Moller-Maersk says to open port-side freight terminal in Russia

MOSCOW, Aug 19 (PRIME) – Danish shipping company Moller-Maersk will open its first port-side freight terminal in Novorossiysk, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

“Our first terminal in Russia will help create 48 jobs,” the company said.

The 3-hectare facility is located 10 kilometers off the port of Novorossiysk. It has two own railroad tracks with a total length of 570 meters. The terminal has 25,000 TEUs of cargo throughput. The facility is capable of fertilizer, liquid and pallet freight transshipment.

Maersk, the world's largest container carrier, was founded in 1904 in the Danish city of Svennborg. It operates in 130 countries and has about 80,000 employees.
